… Two years ago, Enxhi was an ESBA scholar who went to a school in the county of Hampshire, south of London. This is what her school is like.
Many UK boarding schools have a long history and some are in buildings that have an even longer story to tell. Most people know that Britain has a monarchy and that there have been kings and queens of England for well over a thousand years. But Enxhi’s school buildings date from the time in the 1600s when England was briefly a republic! It was built as a fine mansion house with beautiful gardens and amazing views and that sense of history and that beauty remains today.
The school has excellent academic results, but in common with most boarding schools they are also committed to a much wider education. Sport, music, drama and a huge range of extra-curricular activities take place which mean students enjoy an exciting range of opportunities that help develop them as individuals, with social skills and interests in addition to their academic qualifications. It is a small school with about 250 students where everyone is well-known to each other.
